Art Museum Day
Art museums play a vital role as cultural, educational, and economic anchors, helping make their communities great places to live and work. Now, more than ever before, it is critical that we come together in our shared belief that the arts are a crucial element of civil society, essential to the well-being of our communities and our democracies.
MCASD will celebrate Art Museum Day at its free monthly program, Downtown at Sundown. Three new exhibitions will open to the public that evening: Andrea Chung: You broke the ocean in half to be here, Go Tell It: Selections from MCASD's Collection, and Prospect 2017. On Friday, May 19, visitors will enjoy free admission from 11 am to 5 pm and complimentary tours at noon and 2 pm in celebration of the importance of museums in our world.
