Päivikki Nykter and Paul Kenyon
The Pleasure of Your Company music series sponsored by the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library presents violinist Päivikki Nykter and pianist Paul Kenyon. Celebrate Mother’s Day at a delightful afternoon concert featuring works by Beethoven, Friedrich Nietzsche, Schumann, Melartin and Sibelius.
A native of Finland, Päivikki Nykter is a graduate of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. She has held positions in many orchestras including the Helsinki Philharmonic and has appeared as a guest artist in several international music festivals. She has maintained her passion for new music, premiering numerous works written for her, and has worked with a number of notable contemporary composers. She was Artist-in-Residence at the UCSD Music Department from 1994 through 2006 and maintains a busy concert and teaching schedule.
Dr. Paul Kenyon is currently a full-time faculty member at Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, where he teaches courses in applied piano and music history. His professional experience includes more than 20 years of teaching, performing and administration. He was previously music department chair from 1998 through 2012 at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. In 2012, Dr. Kenyon was named College Music Educator of the Year by the California Music Educators' Association (Southern Border section).
