Blue Christmas
The Christmas Season can be a difficult time of year. For those who are grieving, for those who have experienced a loss or are facing a loss, the holidays can feel long, painful and lonely. Those who are hurting often avoid church over the holidays, feeling isolated and out of place in the midst of the Christmas cheer. Yet it is the most wounded places of our lives and of our world that need the solace and hope that is at the very heart of Christmas. It has become the tradition of the La Jolla United Methodist Church to make a place for those who are hurting during the holidays. We will be offering a Blue Christmas Service on Sunday, December 17, at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. It is a quiet, reflective service that makes space for our grief as well as opens our spirits to the extravagant love of God as we seek healing and hope. All are welcome. It’s a wonderful time to think about the folks around you and to invite a friend. For more information, contact Rev. Lori Leopold ([email protected]).
