Modern Macrame
2690 Historic Decatur Road, Barracks 19, Studio 206, San Diego, 92106
Cost: $52 - $58
Macrame is a form of textile-making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting. In macrame the primary knots are the square knot and forms of "hitching": full hitch and double half hitches.
Macrame dates back as far as the 13th Century and made a major comeback in fashion and art in the 1970s. It was long crafted by sailors, especially in elaborate or ornamental knotting forms, to decorate anything from knife handles to bottles to parts of ships. With the versatile techniques you will learn in this class you will be able to create belts, purses, jewelry, room dividers, and more. We will use paracord, cord traditionally used to suspend parachutes. All materials included.
