Center for World Music 50th Anniversary
The Center for World Music's 50th Anniversary Festival is an outdoor multicultural performing arts experience. Held in Ellen Browning Scripps Park by the cove in La Jolla, the day-long Festival will feature master artists performing music and dance from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe: including folk and traditional cultures of Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Iran, Spain, and many more.
Festival goers will find themselves surrounded by colorful dancers, exotic melodies, and unfamiliar rhythms. Meet international artists, learn Peruvian dance, listen to Indonesian gamelan and Persian setar, sample a tasting menu of international cuisines, and enjoy interactive musical instrument demonstrations in a beautiful outdoor setting overlooking the ocean.
The Festival is free of charge and open to the public, thanks to generous support from the master musicians and dancers, community volunteers, and the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture.
