The ancient town of Beer-Sheva dating back to the 10th-8th centuries B.C.E. in the Negev Desert (Israel) is a world heritage site; San Diego Presidio, established close to 3000 years later, shows striking similarities in site plan, architecture, animal husbandry. Aaron Sasson of San Diego Natural History Museum's zooarchaeology lab, who has worked with both collections, shares the parallels for San Diego County Archaeological Society. 858-538-0935.
