Philip Mann joined the San Diego Symphony as a new conductor in fall 2007. His local two-year fellowship residency was arranged through the American Symphony Orchestra League's American Conducting Fellows Program. The 29-year-old will be working with SDS music director Jahja Ling, who signed a new four-year contract with SDS in Fall 2007. Mann will also be involved with recording the SDS's Jacobs' Masterworks concerts for radio broadcasts and downloads.
Mann earned his master's degree from Indiana University, and studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes scholar.
