Mike Wojniak released his debut album Follow the Crane in 2008, a ten-song, electro-pop, home-recording, followed in 2010 by Memento Vivere, a rhythmic set of love-centered songs. His 2012 album Libero is an hour long exploration of themes ranging to the impermanence of life to the meaning of the Latin word libero, “to be liberated or set free.”

Although most of his Libero compositions are arranged on piano or guitar, the final product is nuanced by Andrew Gordon-Seifert and his dulcet cello, with guest vocalist Heather Evans, as well as the winsome sounds of violin (Chris Shaw) and bass (Matt Wooten).

His Anima Mundi EP was released in June 2014 on his own Golden Wave Records label.
“The EP title is a Latin phrase meaning ‘the world’s soul,’ encompassing the idea that all living things on the planet are intrinsically connected. I came across this phrase while reading the writings of the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. My last two records both have Latin titles as well, and I wanted to stay within this theme. The names of each of these albums are not only all Latin words or phrases, but the meanings behind each also reflect a specific period of my life.”

Wojniak’s sound, particularly live, has evolved from his early solo days. “I would describe it as melodic indie rock. Another new term I’ve been using to describe our sound is ‘gluten-free rock.’”
