Island Fever! is a coastal reggae/world music band with a long history in San Diego, as the resident band at venues like the Catamaran and elsewhere. The steel drum party/dance group features steel pans (steel drums from Trinidad and Tobago) and hot dance rhythms, stirring up a spicy blend of Caribbean and California styles.

Band founders Sabira Woolley (vocals, steel pan) and Ron Nathan (keyboards and key bass) went to the West Indies to study the music of the steel drum and the culture from which it developed. Woolley - born on the exotic, sun-drenched island of Coronado - has written, recorded, and performed compositions for special events, awareness workshops, meditation tapes, and instructional videos.

With advanced training in classical and jazz genres, Nathan’s experience runs the gamut from playing gut bucket in the All-American Ragtime Band to conducting classical orchestras.
