If you were around San Diego in the 1990s, you may have caught Dryve playing around town. They put out a couple of records -- Thrifty Mr Kickstar and Hum -- won a 1997 San Diego Music Award, and toured with Sixpence, None the Richer, and the Call. They even did a small local show with some dude named Jeff Buckley.

Singer/guitarist Paul Donovan went on to play with the Midwinters, while singer Cory Verner co-founded Lowlight. A Dryve reunion show happened November 7, 2010, at Infusion Church in Escondido. “It was a benefit to help some friends raise funds to adopt their son’s one year-old little brother from a Russian orphanage,” says Verner. “They didn’t even know their son had a baby brother until a few months ago: same mom, same orphanage. They are hoping to bring the two little guys under the same roof here in San Diego.” The benefit raised around $1,200.

The 1990s band reunited on November 7, 2010, to play a benefit at Infusion Church in Escondido for friends hoping to adopt the baby brother of their adopted son, who came from an orphanage in Russia. Former members Cory Verner (vocals), Paul Donovan (vocals, acoustic guitar), and Steve Pratschner (acoustic guitar) participated in the four-song set. Verner’s new band Lowlight (which also includes Pratschner from Dryve) and Donovan’s band the Midwinters also played.
