Amenity, featuring singer Mike Downey (aka Mike Down), formerly of the 1980s hardcore band Forced Down, was a hardcore metal band. In the late 1980s, Amenity seemed poised to be the first San Diego metal act to make it big since Iron Butterfly. Now considered one of the city's first "straight edge" hardcore bands, the Chula Vista-based group split in 1990.

In 2008, Amenity announced it would reunite for a December 6 performance in Barrio Logan meant to promote a new book featuring the band, Radio Silence: A Selected Visual History of American Hardcore. At that time, they recorded four songs, as well as shooting a video for the tune "Shine," which saw its own release party at the East Village Tavern & Bowl.

Things seemed to be going well enough that the band considered staying reunited, and a new EP was set to be recorded in early 2009. The reunited members did play a short gig at a San Francisco club called 924 Gilman, and they were to headline a Chula Vista hardcore show. However, the night of the hometown gig, the band fractured again, and they didn't perform.
