Superintendent Ed Brand has once again cancelled an agreed upon meeting with the community to discuss the open boundaries and Mello Roos issues that many have been questioning. He had cancelled last weeks agreed upon meeting at the last minute because he became unhappy with the Agenda and format he had agreed to days before.
The meeting had been tentatively rescheduled to Wednesday Sept 12th 7pm at Eastlake High School. But, once again Ed Brand has decided to cancel the meeting, this time because he found out that organizers of the meeting might be involved with the petition for vote of no confidence against him. In an email to one of the organizers, he stated "I learn today Sept 5th that you and Mrs.---- are circulating a No confidence petition regarding my leadership. Seeing that your mind is made up please refer all parent issues to my office and I will meet with them on an individual basis ... No meeting will take place on the 12th of Sept ."
Why does Ed Brand not want to meet with those community member(s) that might oppose him and his decisions? Why does he not want to meet in public and answer questions that the community has regarding Mello Roos and Open Boundaries? Why does he not keep his committment to the community to meet in a public forum?
It is disturbing that the leader of our school district is not willing to meet to discuss these very important issues.
If this concerns you, please contact your elected Trustees, Pearl Quinones, Jim Cartmill, John McCann, Bertha Lopez and Arlie Ricasa. Let them know you will not stand for a Superintendent that hides and will not keep his committment to the community and will not answer questions on decision he made. They can be reached at:
