Local Republicans are celebrating a slim advantage over Democrats in voter rolls, after new registration data was released by the San Diego County Registrar of Voters showing 510,792 registered Republicans in the county. The Registrar reports Democrats trailing by 100 voters, with 510,692.
“This shows Republicans are on offense in San Diego County with more and more voters rejecting the class warfare rhetoric and 'divide and conquer' tactics of today's Democratic Party and embracing our principles of free enterprise, limited government and a strong national defense,” said party chair Tony Krvaric in a release.
Krvaric also said the party recruited 247 new campaign volunteers last week in the wake of the GOP national convention in Miami.
Just shy of 72,000 voters are registered as members of third parties, while over 366,000 more are registered with no official party affiliation.
