It's September, and that means it's time for The San Diego Asian Film Festival to present another of its outstanding quarterly screenings.
Michael Collins' documentary Give Up Tomorrow took home the Audience Award at last year's Tribeca Film Festival and hasn't stopped racking up trophies since.
The film follows teenager Paco Larranaga, a convicted murderer, whose case put the entire Philippines' judicial system to the test.
SDAFF's Artistic Pogrammer, Brian Hu, calls Give up Tomorrow, "one of those rare 'innocent man wrongly accused' documentaries that is as gripping as any narrative crime story. It is humanitarian filmmaking at its most poignant as it tackles corruption and capital punishment with a sense of urgency and passion."
Give Up Tomorrow screens Thursday, September 8, that's tomorrow night, at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. Producer Marty Syjuco will be on hand for a post-show Q&A. Tickets are $10, $8 for SDAFF members. They are expecting a capacity crowd, so it's best to order your tickets in advance.
