On Monday, October 19, the ground for the interim off-leash dog park at Ward Canyon Neighborhood Park in Normal Heights was cleared and leveled and orange temporary fencing set up.
There was no official groundbreaking"ceremony, but a posted sign reads, "Maintenance in Progress: Future Temporary Off Leash Dog Park."
Depending on this winter's rains, the park should be up and running by the end of the year or early 2016. But the controversy continues with at least one resident asking if a traffic study had been done, since an off-leash dog park could draw residents up from Mission Valley and as far south as El Cajon Boulevard.
