Some big news over at Southwest Strategies, the lobbying boutique founded by ex-Tribune city hall reporter Al Ziegaus. The firm, which represents a colorful array of clients, from the MedBox marijuana vending machine company to Lamar Outdoor Advertising to the Palomar Card Club to Walmart to Fox Sports San Diego, just picked up one of its biggest corporate clients yet. It’s General Dynamics NASSCO, and the object of the shipbuilder’s desire is “council approval of agreed upon settlement” regarding the issue of “Bay Sediment.” Another of the agency’s task is to spread word of the cash that its clients are busy handing out around town to gain support for their various corporate desires. The latest from Walmart: $50,000 for Accion San Diego and $5000 to First Book.
