"This video is a porn cartoon," e-mails Jack Sparrow, a fan of Unwritten Law but not of the alternate version of the band's song "Save Me." The animated video appears on Unwritten Law's unofficial website unwrittenlaw.net.
An assistant for Unwritten Law's Los Angeles--based manager Les Borsai said the alternate website is operated by a dedicated fan named Dean Cross. "This is a fan website. This is not run by the band," said the assistant, who did want to be named.
But if the band and its management protested, wouldn't Cross have to give up the domain name?
"Yes, but this is operated by hard-core fans of the band who are doing a good job.... They're very dedicated to the band."
The official band website, unwrittenlaw.com, is operated by the band's label Lava/Atlantic.
