"The Show is Not Happening"

"The show is not happening," said Creative Artists Agency's Laura Haber. "We don't understand where that's coming from."

Despite what CityBeat wrote December 8, there is no New Year's Eve show at Ground Zero in San Diego this year.

"I contacted [the Dropkick Murphys'] management [the Dropkick Murphys were listed as the headliner], and they had heard nothing about this. I contacted CityBeat to try to find out what all this was about."

Amy O'Mally of Leave Home Booking was not happy that three of the bands she represents (Death by Stereo, TSOL, and the Swinging Utters) were alleged to be playing the same New Year's Eve show. O'Mally and Haber both said that no one had called them to see if their respective bands would even be available to play in San Diego on December 31.

"TSOL is playing Mammoth Mountain on New Year's Eve. And so is Death by Stereo. I have no idea why that happened," said O'Mally.

Ground Zero is a 600-person music venue operated by Skyline Wesleyan Church on Campo Road. Some 40 live music events have been held at Ground Zero since it opened four months ago, drawing fans who have paid between $5 and $12 admission.

Ryan Brinson is a youth pastor at Skyline. He oversees the Ground Zero activities. He said nothing was booked at Ground Zero for December 31.

"Ground Zero is designed to provide a safe environment, a positive place for teens to hang out in East County." He said there was no way the bogus concert announcement would have come from anyone at Ground Zero.

"It was just a human error," said Kevin Hellman, CityBeat's director of marketing and sales for San Diego. "We will print a retraction." He said he did not know who provided the false information.
