The only thing I can think of better than flying around taking pictures of a zeppelin would be to actually get aboard one. But, how to do that when it costs $500 a ticket? Well, the zeppelin company Airship Ventures was putting on a photo contest, and the prize was a flight aboard Eureka. So, I submitted our air to air photos to the contest, and was pleasantly surprised when I won the coveted tickets. I also got a call from the airship company asking about other shots I took of San Diego, so I decided I would try to barter with the company. My offer: Free stock photos of anything I take while I am aboard the airship in exchange for more airship tickets. Airship Ventures said "yes" and that's how I got my wife, my son, Todd the pilot and his wife a wonderful 1 hour flight over downtown San Diego in a giant airship. Man, that was a ride I will never forget. Here are a few shots from the trip:
Departing from Brown Field
Approaching downtown from the south
Pilot Todd Bohlman chatting with the airship pilot - Look Out!!
Passing over the convention center and hotels.
