This piece of art is called “Quarrel Tree,” by Michael David Johnson.

I had been trying to figure out what to do with this piece of art, along the Embarcadero, in San Diego. I was photographing something else, when I noticed a flock of pigeons swooping around, especially after the mock cannon battles would scare them into flight. Then, I saw “evidence” that the pigeons loved the spot next to this piece of art. I waited and waited and finally…got what I was waiting for. I thought the background (pigeons) fit the subject perfectly. Don’t you?

It's definitely sort of amazing that all the pigeons managed to fly away form the quarrel (very medieval,"quarrel") at the same time for you to get this shot.

I took a shot of that when I was in SD in March, but with helie-copters over it. :)
