Street Style Carlsbad: Ankle Booties

How the women of Carlsbad wore their ankle boots

Ankle boots are taking San Diego by storm. From wedged, delicately heeled, to lace-ups, the trend is everywhere. In Carlsbad on Thursday afternoon I found three women with very different styles, all wearing ankle booties.

25-year-old Hannah Savenye wore cognac Dolce Vita boots from Urban Outfitters that nearly matched her strawberry blonde hair. The boots retail for $119. She wore patterned BDG jeans from UO and an Anthropologie top and necklace.

Savenye is the merchandiser at the Carlsbad Anthropologie. She lists Anthropologie, Studio 220, Buffalo Exchange, Madewell, and Zara among her favorite stores.

"The one trend I don’t like is Southwestern cowboy prints. We carry it at Anthropologie. It’s everywhere. I don’t get it.”

Sophia Metcalf also wore Dolce Vita boots from Urban Outfitters. Her's are currently on sale for $34.99. Metcalf paired her boots with dark burgundy skinny jeans and a t-shirt both from UO. Metcalf’s hat is Billabong and her jacket is Levi's. Her glasses are Chloe and her purse is by Lamb.

The 28-year-old is a talent agent for Zuri.

“If I could raid anyone’s closet it would be Kate Moss or Kate Bosworth’s. They both have great style,” Metcalf says.

21-year-old Megan Cukr wore Free People from head to toe. She paired her ankle boots with a floral belted tunic.

“I’ve worked for Free People for two years so most of my clothes are from here. I like to shop at L&F in La Jolla too,” Cukr says.

Megan's favorite wadrobe item is her vegan leather jacket from Free People. You can find it online at Free People for $168.

When asked what her least favorite current trend is, Cukr replied, “Studs. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that they are everywhere. They are a little bit too trendy.”
