Summer is a great time to learn something new. Here are a few classes in San Diego for beginners.
Sewing Basic Sew - Tote Bag Sunday, July 22 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. At home ec studio (2225 30th St), the "first 50 minutes will go over basic machine anatomy and practice on the machine. Students will then sew the project for the duration of the class." All materials needed for this tote are included with the class. Cost: $45.
Cooking: Knife Basics Hip-Mini Tuesday, July 24 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. "Join us in the Hipcooks studio (4048 30th St) for an informative hour about knives. How to care for them, how to choose a fine knife and of course how to use them. Learn to hone, draw, slice and chop. Leave feeling like a pro...or that with practice you will be!" The class will also include "yummy nibbles and tasty recipes to take home." Cost: $15.
Yoga Absolute Beginners Workshop with Maria Camacho Sunday, July 29 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Maria Camacho, yoga instructor and owner of The Little Yoga Studio, welcomes all beginning yoga practitioners: "During this two hour workshop you can expect to learn where to start as a beginning student with basic breathing techniques and postures. Dress comfortably and we will provide you with a mat if you don’t have your own. No experience required." Cost: $20 preregistration, $25 day of workshop.
