The plumber butt, a style epidemic
Two Kensington stylists discuss their biggest fashion pet-peeves.
33-year-old Gianina Contin (gray dress) feels there is a style epidemic sweeping the nation: The plumber butt.
“It’s bad,’ she tells me. “Also, I’m not a fan of cut-outs in clothing. Flesh should not be exposed in certain spots.”
Adds 26-year-old Jessica Taranto, “You don’t want a muffin-top cut-out,”
“Also, I don’t like things to be too matchy-matchy,” Gianina continues
“Or, when people wear socks with heels,” adds Jessica
“It can look cute if you weigh twenty pounds,” Gianina clarifies.
Both Jessica and Gianina are stylists at Diesel Salon in Normal Heights.
Jessica’s high-heeled studded boots are from Mileage in Pacific Beach. Her mustache necklace was a Coachella purchase two years ago. Her emerald green blazer is from Forever 21.
Gianina’s boots were purchased locally at Dream Girls in O.B. Her dress was thrifted, and her tights are from Forever 21.
Jessica’s style motto is to be different.
“I put on an outfit in the morning and think, how can I make this weird.”
The ladies list Flashbacks in Hillcrest, Dream Girls in O.B, and Lola Luna in P.B among their favorite local stores.
