Today, June 8, is World Oceans Day. To celebrate, Rubio's, a restaurant which owes a measure of its success to both oceans and beaches, is hosting a beach clean-up party tomorrow, June 9, at South Cardiff State Beach from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Well now, that looks almost like lunch hour! Will there be free food? Yes, yes there will. It's a Saturday in June - you were going to the beach anyway!
But wait - there's more! It's not all picking up cigarette butts and empty bags of Kettle Chips, no sir. Prior to the picking-up, there will be all the stuff you see here - sandcastle contests, bocce, face painting, etc. (I'm a fan of beach bocce; you have to play the throw more than the roll.)
And because no event is complete without an iPad giveaway, you can go here before midnight tonight and tell the good people at Rubio's how you "stand up for the ocean." They'll donate $1 to the Surfrider Foundation for every entry, plus you get a shot at the aforementioned iPad (2nd Gen) or some other goodies. You know - vacations and things.
BONUS - Tote bags!
