Burch better but not quite good enough yet

Back on Saturday, October 10, Octoberfest came to Ocean Beach. Festivities included a bratwurst eating contest, a stein holding competition, and live music - including traditional German drinking songs from the Bavarian Beer Garden Band.
Overall, it was a perfect day for Kirsten to join Susan and three-month-old Lila for a stroll.

Oktoberfest seems so out of place out here on the West Coast. I'm used to drunken debauchery involving 5,000+ members of an otherwise upstanding public. In Wisconsin, Oktoberfest is a state holiday. :-D

I've sipped Millers at Oktoberfest in Milwaukee one time, with my Uncle Ben. Good fun and lots of good people, just like Wisconsin in general. I think that, like San Diego, Wisconsin is also a paradise...just of a different sort.
Can't resist a Simpson's aside: "There's no such thing as Scotchtoberfest." "There's not?! Ya used me, Skinner! Ya used me!"

Basically, the Midwest is it's own paradise...just of a different sort. I've spoken about this before. Basically, I'm not picking on just Sandy Eggo. I'm picking on wherever I live because deep down inside, I have a drifter's soul and I won't be happy anywhere I go unless I'm constantly on the run.

Do you remember if it was here?

I'm not sure, but I think I remember being near a river, on downtown streets that were closed to vehicle traffic. That might have been at Henry Maier park. And it might have been Summerfest and not Oktoberfest that I enjoyed way back when. But definitely a Milwaukee fest with lots of Millers and bratwurst and Green Bay Packer fans.

BTW, it was Henry Maier Park that yuou were at. It's right on the lake. If there were alot of overpasses at the place, it was HM Park.
