Two suspects were arrested in Tijuana on Monday, March 26th, in connection with a murder in Chula Vista earlier this month. Both suspects are believed to be United States citizens from Chula Vista, CA.

19 year old Karim Joshua Alvarez and 18 year old David Chavoya, the suspects, were wanted in connection with a March 14th murder in San Diego County. It is believed that Chavoya shot the victim, 20 year old Jimmy Rodriguez, seven times outside a liquor store.

The suspects are believed to be members of the South Bay West Side Locos gang. After fleeing to Tijuana, it is apparent they were looking to get by on short term work in the Zona Rio (downtown district), where they were arrested.

The Policia Estatal Preventiva (State Preventive Police) claimed responsibility for arresting the suspects to the Tijuana press. Local reports state that the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals also participated in the arrests. The suspects were extradited from Tijuana to the San Diego County Jail within 24 hours.

Another Chula Vista man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with a murder that occurred in Tijuana. Omar Ulloa Munoz, the suspect, was arrested in San Ysidro by the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals. Munoz is suspected of killing Raul Arzula at a Tijuana nightclub in 2010.The suspect will likely be extradited to Mexico for prosecution.

Zona Rio is not in the downtown district, Delegación Zona Centro. It is East of there, and located within Delegación La Mesa.

Absolutely, SP. Take a good pair of walking shoes with you, I'll show you how it's laid out and where the good and shady spots are and why.

I'm here, just message me. I have to go over the border often this season to cover the Padres, but when they are out of town, nothing I would like more than to introduce you to the city I've lived in for 20 years now. You take the good with the bad, it's actually a lovely mix.

On a lighter note some really cool people are building a statue of a 'hand flashing the peace sign.' Hopefully It'll be installed later this year in Las Playas. My family and I plan on being there for the dedication. Hey RG, If the Boomerang bar is still there I'd be honored to buy you a sodee pop.
