It's not about the Chargers stadium saga, but Chris Lehane, longtime business associate of the team's lobbying honcho Mark Fabiani, has written a movie starring Rob Lowe that takes some big shots at politicians and journalists, according to the website Variety.com.

Entitled Knife Fight, the political comedy is about three candidates and Lowe, who plays a "political crisis manager."

It's loosely based on Lehane and his many years with Fabiani, including the period when they advised Bill Clinton and Al Gore on how to handle the political fallout of their personal foibles.

Lehane's profile on Linkedin identifies him as an owner of Fabiani & Lehane. Fabiani, known as the "Master of Disaster," has handled clients including Madonna and Lance Armstrong.

He has become locally famous as special counsel and city hall lobbyist for the Chargers during their longtime effort to procure a new stadium here.

According to the team's website: "Since joining the Chargers, Fabiani and his La Jolla-based firm, Fabiani & Lehane LLC, has taken the lead in working with taxpayers and fans to create a publicly-acceptable solution to the stadium issue.

"He also has managed the grassroots effort to solicit ideas from the community."

Lehane's motion picture, co-written with director Bill Guttentag and shot in San Francisco over the summer, apparently tells a less wholesome story.

In it, Julie Bowen "plays a reporter who sleeps her way to major news stories," reports Variety.

"Knife Fight takes you into the back room to see what our political leaders are really made of and to explore a central tension in modern day U.S. politics: that the people who lead us are individuals with both extraordinary talents and extraordinary flaws that often lead them to the breaking of their promises," Lehane is quoted as saying.

The movie's title came from the fact that, according to Lehane, "a political campaign is like a knife fight in a phone booth."

Release is set for next year.
