Took me a dozen tried to post a comment, using the new captcha field (necessary due to hackers and bobot spammers abusing the site) - the captchas are hard as heck to read, and are apparently case-sensitive --

Yes.
quillpena Sept. 1, 2011 @ 1:13 a.m.
What a royal pain.
Jay Allen Sanford Sept. 1, 2011 @ 2:17 a.m.
Indeed, but should have been instituted awhile ago - without the captchas, sites are very vulnerable.
Jay Allen Sanford Sept. 1, 2011 @ 2:20 a.m.
Nan, it took me awhile to get a captcha to work - BUT, once I did, my comments have been working every time. Please try it a few more times - I think once you're recognized by site 'bots, you won't have any more problems (other than making out the hard-to-read captcha text!)
nan shartel Sept. 1, 2011 @ 5:36 a.m.
gotcha Jay...but i have really poor vision...yikes don't tell anyone....and with that silly line running thru one of the words i'm a gonna every time
and ya got to type those captchas in twice...once in the original comment and once in the preview...so i feel like i'm jumping alphabetic hurtles
it's so sad to have old eyes...dang it!!!
Jay Allen Sanford Sept. 1, 2011 @ 6:05 a.m.
You can skip the "preview comment" step now by scrolling a bit further down the page after you type in your comment -- a "post comment" button has been added BELOW the captcha!
nan shartel Sept. 1, 2011 @ 6:08 a.m.
i will try
nan shartel Sept. 1, 2011 @ 6:09 a.m.

oh wait ...it's morning...hahahahaha
nan shartel Sept. 1, 2011 @ 6:54 a.m.
does the web site administrator have to run around removing lots of spam comments Jay??
i rarely see any in the blogs
if the bloggers change their passwords frequently i don't think they could be hacked...what would be the point anyway??
i find it impossible to reply individually to each poster now
i guess i'll have to resort to @quill or @ jay and they can see comments i make to them at the bottom of the page
and quill...ur right
"What a royal pain".
Jay Allen Sanford Sept. 1, 2011 @ 7:37 a.m.
Most every aspect of the website has been under attack for awhile now, 24 hours a day, including bogus neighborhood blog posts filled with spam, some of it with racist, obscene, or nonsense language - even the "contact" buttons were being flooded with hundreds of spam messages. The captchas filter out the evil auto-pilot spambots that perpetrate such chicanery --
nan shartel Sept. 1, 2011 @ 7:44 a.m.
thx for the explanation JAS...of course the READER can't let that kind of abuse go on
i'm sure given time and stronger glasses i'll acclimate to the captchas
it's too bad they have to be implemented but that the internet isn't it
someone has to always make it tougher for the nice people who cause no harm to enjoy it
thx JAS

nan shartel Sept. 1, 2011 @ 8:10 a.m.

Duhbya Sept. 3, 2011 @ 10:05 p.m.

nan shartel Sept. 4, 2011 @ 10:52 a.m.
