my el cajon boulevard

felt through eyes blood shot

and thoughts

forgotten

distorted

by proof

never too great

skip the warning labels

natures light long gone

nothing

shiny or neat

about this hour

my favorite

more than a street

forgiveness

that my line

not always straight

a walk along used sidewalks

way past everyone's bed time

random shadows

dart around

real

never introduced

black and whites

tucked out of sight

only me and them know

where

no crowds

or cowards to share my path

bartenders already home

even though my stride

is flat footed

the boulevard

knows i am among the last

just passing through

both needing this time to heal

no care to look up

for even one star

rudfords

always there

nearing the end of my trek

a diner not so far

coffee and pie

and a friendly waitress

is all i desire

not sure if it matters ...but i actually wrote this on a napkin at rudfords around 3am - had blueberry pie but cannot recall if waitress asked if i wanted it heated up or not ...can't imagine many would believe this - even best of friends wonder why - but i posted it because i liked it - you know maybe a different view of one san diego's most famous or is it infamous streets- maybe you should check out the blvd sometime - on foot the best way or you could just google it.

I will--Googled those other two streets you wrote about and landed on the Sunset Cliff Inn and Alex's music! Wrote a blip on that experience but not sure you had a chance to read it yet--thinking its right up your alley.

When the street is yours and a breeze is your best friend. I have similar experiances with "my" Newport Street. Late night walks. This poem reminds me of my own. Its a welcome reminder. :) Thank you.
