Bike accident, flat tire, and where to get it fixed
I've been to a lot more bike shops than I have car dealerships.
Perhaps it comes with the territory of being a twentysomething, but a quick scan of the checking account is a simple reminder that I feel much more comfortable around Trek's, Cannondales and Schwinn's than Lexus's, BMW's and Toyota's.
Moving out to Mira Mesa for the summer I immediately needed a bike shop to call home when I unpacked my road bike and realized that the airplane baggage people had ignored the "handle with care" sign and had replaced it with "man handle often". With a busted bike I hopped on the 921 bus and found myself at Black Mountain Bicycles on 9158 Mira Mesa BLVD.
The mechanic in the back room dropped what he was working on and spent 20 minutes banging my bike back into riding shape, he sent me on my way with a pat on the back and no time to take my wallet out my back pocket. A week later and a few minor accidents under my belt... yes I had a head on collision with a parked car... I was back in the shop repairing the brakes and again I was sent on my way after some friendly conversation and a "don't worry about it, enjoy the ride".
Black Mountain Bicycles defines customer service. They carry a full line of Cannondale, Specialized and Trek. They handle a minor repair and a $4,000 road bike sale the same way - professionally.
