Old Town Trolley Station, San Diego January 15, 10:58 AM SDPD, Sherrif's Dept.

The San Diego Police Department notifed the Sheriff's Communication Center that they were on scene of a train vs. pedestrian accident with serious injuries at the Old Town Trolley Station. Sheriff's Coaster Detail deputies responded to investigate.

They determined that a white make adult, approximately 40, was observed by witnesses and on trolley station surveillance video walking across the train tracks. His head was down and did not respond to the approaching trains warning.

A northbound Amtrack train (#572) struck the man in an "obvious fatal impact."

Based on the surveillance video, it appars the man intentionally wanted the train to hit him. His identity has not yet been established.
