Sound Off: First Round Upset
Which lower seed has the best chance to pull a first round upset?
View from the Red Zone
Although there aren't usually very many first round upsets, a matchup where the lower seed has a pretty good chance to pull an upset comes from Division V - No. 11 Julian (7-3, 5-2 Southern) against No. 6 Bishop's (4-6, 0-4 Coastal). If Julian can survive the long trip to La Jolla, they have the chance to upend the Knights, who are not the same team as the Division V champions of a year ago. Bishop's did play in a tougher league, but they also went winless in league play. The Eagles have won four of their last five and their only league losses came to Calvin Christian and Foothills Christian, the top two teams in the Southern League. In a Friday night filled with potential blowouts, Julian-Bishop's should be a close game, and the Eagles have a good chance of pulling the upset - the best chance of any lower seed.
