NOTE: The lead indicators of the San Diego economy, compiled by University of San Diego economist Alan Gin, have stopped rising after steady increases for a number of months. The August index was up 0% from July. Building permits and initial unemployment claims moved in a negative direction. Stock prices, consumer confidence, help wanted advertising and the national economy moved in a positive direction in August. Best, Don Bauder
