Ronne Froman, the retired Navy admiral who abruptly quit as Mayor Jerry Sanders's top aide last June, has been named senior vice president of the energy group for defense contractor General Atomics. It was announced in the December issue of "General Atomics Update," an internal publication. Since last year, Froman has been seen at Beautiful People social events with Linden Blue, who runs General Atomics with his brother Neal. She left the mayor's employ shortly after being put in charge of a planned whitewash of the administration's handling of the Sunroad scandal -- an impossible assignment. At the time of her departure, Sanders said she had only planned to spend two years on the job, but that was not discussed when she had run with Sanders as a two-person team. She left Sanders after 18 months on the job.

Boy, Froman really knows how to land on her feet. She retired from a cushy civilian-like post as US Navy "mayor" and took a post as financial hatchet for Alan Bersin at SD Unified, where she did a poor-to-fair job but got out pretty quickly, before her legacy was tied together with his mean-spirited persona. She then went to the Red Cross, where by all accounts she helped burnish its tarnished public image for a couple of years, no matter whether anything fundamental changed in the organization. Lo and behold, she then became the right-hand woman to Mayor Sanders, who apparently was smitten with her from his Red Cross connections. Didn't stay there very long, but give her credit for leaving before the roof caved in on her. And now another plushy post at General Atomics, where from the description you provide we really know nothing about what she will do. But the odds seem pretty good that her benefit to GA will come from her now ivy-like connections to would-be rainmakers rather than from any knowledge about how to actually bring progress in energy alternatives.

And wouldn't you like to have her cumulative retirement benefits? They probably make the city's DROP program look positively puny!!

Perhaps Linden saw Ronne with star struck eye, I hope it would not turnout to be a stirrer eye. She was a piece of work, egotistical but sometime she can be very charming person, belay that, make that a snake charmer. Certainly she did not earn her two stars on her shoulder for being clueless. She was in Navy right time and took full advantages for being female and had keen senses of future wind direction. Yes I did not like her and still don’t like her, being said that most likely I will receive some nasty comments but needed to say. If Linden thinks he can use her for DON contacts point, he will be in rude awakening soon. I will give GA two years or less….

Response to post #1: Does she have a lot of expertise in energy? She is now senior vp of energy. If I were at General Atomics, I would want to know her background in this field. Best, Don Bauder

Response to post #2: Possibly she will prove proficient at getting contracts, particularly military-related ones. But again: does she have the background in energy? Best, Don Bauder

I thought she said she wanted to slow down...when you get down to it, she’s just another slimy bureaucrat making a truck full of money. Ahhhh…the American Way

Response to post #5: If I were an employee of General Atomics, I would want to know her relationship with Linden Blue, her expertise (if any) in energy, and whether she will help getting military contracts. Best, Don Bauder
