New Digs, New Beer for Green Flash

Makers of arguably the most quintessential example of San Diego's most famous beer styles, the West Coast IPA, Green Flash Brewing Co. has experienced a great deal of success since opening its doors in 2002. So much so, that they're not only moving on up, but moving on out of their brewery in Vista.

Their new home is a 45,000 square foot facility in Mira Mesa located at 6550 Mira mesa Boulevard on the northwest corner of the intersection of MMB and Flanders Drive (already, there's been talk of a Flanders-style sour red ale being brewed in honor of their new digs). Added space for newly purchased state-of-the-art brewing equipment will equate to an immediate spike in production, but let's get to what really matters right now.

Green Flash's brand new tasting room, a 4,500 SF space that includes a view of the brewing operation as well as an outdoor patio area that'll be perfect for summertime imbibing, opens tomorrow, June 1st. Weekday hours will be Wednesday through Friday from 3 PM to 9 PM and weekend visitors are welcome Saturday and Sunday from noon to 9 PM.

While moving is never fun and usually enough to render one temporarily out of commission, brewmaster Chuck Silva and his crew haven't missed a beat. In fact, they've added a new special release beer to their repertoire. It's a mega-hopped Bohemian-style pilsner dubbed Top Gun, which pays homage to one of the most popular movies ever to be filmed in America's Finest City.
