Sunset Dining at Island Prime, almost affordable
In Miami Beach and other retiree destinations, they call this the "early bird special," or sometimes "senior citizen special." Here, at one of Cohn Restaurant Group's classiest establishments (gotta use a 4-syllable word there, right?), Island Prime calls it the Sunset Dining Menu - and sunsets are perhaps the best time of day to catch the great bay view from this above-average surf-and-turfer executed by chef Deborah Scott's minions. Monday through Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30pm they offer a 3-course Sunset Dining Menu (starter, main, shared dessert) priced at $40 per person -- plus, of course, bevs, tip, tax.. The menu currently offers a choice of lobster bisque or a trendy retro oxymoron salad of a cliff of iceberg lettuce with bacon, BACON!, followed by a choice of cedar plank salmon, filet mignon, or free-range chicken, and then a choice of desserts. . For reservations visit www.islandprime.com or call 619-298-6802. Oh, and they won't check your Medicare card here, a good thing since the view is for all ages.
