PEP Director says PGR is not Investigating them in Drug Cases (Uniradio Informa, 1/24/13)
TIJUANA, BC - In regard to the seizure of little more than 9 tons of marijuana in the Ejido Francisco Villa area by elements of the Preventive State Police (PEP), and whether it could have been seized earlier since it featured police markings, this Thursday morning the PEP Director Marco Antonio Montoya Gomez was asked whether he had been cited by authorities of the PGR and said, "It is for them to tell you".
It should be recalled, it was noted the drugs could have been stolen by a cartel after having been previously seized by police authorities. Montoya Gomez said they met with PGR personnel to contribute to the case investigation. "It is a normal procedure. The time we visited with them was to provide information and not an investigation to be opened against our elements. It was to make contributions... The PGR is conducting investigations to clarify the origin of the goods. That is up to them... sleep calm", he said.
On another subject, about on information from United States authorities, which indicated that the cartel commanded by Isidro Flores Amezcua has a new rival for the cartel, Joaquin Guzman Loera alias “El Chapo Guzmán”. "Here in the State, the only thing we have is what is the Sinaloa CAF has ventured about the Templar Familia Michoacana. Given this is one point in the border geography, we are definitely going to be affected by the transfer of drugs, although we have not detected any other information", he said.
