Landslides are Preventable Tragedy (EL MEXICANO, 9/17/12 by Lucía Gomez Sanchez)

TIJUANA, BC - "What happened did not have to occur", said Alfredo Escobedo Ortiz, State Civil Protection Director, in reference to the collapse that killed three members of a family in the colony on May 10. He explained that once again a slope cut without advice ended in tragedy, this time ending the life of a father and his two sons. In Tijuana, there are about 20 areas in danger of sliding. There are regulations that must be followed to make safe earth movements, he noted. http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/informacion/noticias/1/3/estatal/2012/09/17/613172/tragedias-evitables-los-derrumbes-por-autoconstruccion.aspx
