The defending league champion West Hills Wolf Pack are up against the ropes this season so far as the program is finally feeling the ripple effect of last years graduation turnover. They lost 31 players to graduation and only 5 players returning for this year’s team. Needless to say it looks like a rebuilding year for the Santee based high school football program who are the defending champs in the North League.
The Wolf Pack is the only team in the Grossmont North without a win and has started the season 0-2 after suffering losses to Patrick Henry and Steel Canyon. The offense has only found the end zone once thus far this season and it won’t get any easier this week against the Scripps Ranch Falcons who make their way to East County.
Arguably one the best quarterbacks in the section, entire state of California for that matter, will be in Santee Friday night so expect a large crowd for this one. Robert “Tate” Forcier has been entertaining offers from D–I schools for a while now and in fact his family has a history of producing some great offense. Last year he completed over 65% of his passes and threw for 16 touchdowns. The Falcons were routed in their opener against Poway and will be looking for redemption after having an entire week off to think about the loss.
That will not be good news for West Hills and you can expect Forcier to have his way in Santee come Friday night. The Wolf Pack doesn’t really have an answer for the Falcon offense MVP this week--unless they can control the game clock on offense themselves. West Hills attempted 44 passes last week which was promising because they completed 50% of them keeping them in the game with Patrick Henry. If the Wolf Pack can get keep the ball longer than the Falcons can, they have a shot in the second half to make it close. The Pack has the kicking game to stay close, but it won’t be this week. Falcons are to strong this week behind Blue Chipper Forcier.
–Prediction (West Hills 14 – Scripps Ranch 42)
