The Vaqueros and The Foothillers Kick off League Play

The Grossmont North League opens up league play on Friday for the first of 4 games for the participating schools: El Cajon Valley, El Capitan, Grossmont, West Hills, and Santana. The team with the best league record will be crowned Grossmont North League Champions.

An intriguing match up between the El Capitan Vaqueros and Grossmont Foothillers will kick off Friday night in a traditional East County Backyard Brawl. This might be a surprise to some but Grossmont has the edge over the last seven years going 5-1-1 against El Capitan. That will not be the case this week as El Capitan although suffered a loss last week played undefeated Valhalla to the wire and the game did nothing but raise the confidence of the Vaqueros.

Speaking of raising confidence the Foothillers did that for themselves last week with the pounding they put on Granite Hills as they scored 54 points. They spoiled the Eagles homecoming and the Vaqueros are looking to do the same to Grossmont on Friday Night.

Quaterback Stats from both Teams:

Tyler Mutter of Grossmont has 1,076 passing yards and 7 touchdowns

Tanner Rust of El Capitan has 1,089 passing yards and 8 touchdowns

Rust is the better runner and actually leads his team in rushing. El Capitan will be to much for Grossmont to handle and the Vaqueros will start league play 1-0.

Prediction (El Capitan 24-Grossmont 14)
