Scott wasn't too exceedingly thrilled with the frakudrama Promised Land. But I will quibble with his claim that we haven't seen a serious film from Van Sant since Drugstore Cowboy - I liked To Die For. Then again, that one was too darkly funny to be called serious, I suppose.

Over at the Ken, you can watch hot 17-year-old dude on 14-year-old dude action in North Sea Texas. I suspect it's the two-dudes factor that generated sufficient buzz for a release - well, that and the sumptuous photography.
