A fantastic 2-day charter on the Fortune with Captain Bruce Smith. First day limits on Yellowfin in the 15-20 pound range put smiles on everyone's faces, but on day 2 Captain Bruce put us on a somewhat boat-shy school of 70-80 pound Bluefin. The bite was picky but with the right bait and technique you were bit. What was amazing all this took place within 45 miles of San Diego. These fish were somewhat unexpected and those fishing single speed reels paid the price with lengthy battles. Due to the angler's skills only 1 fish was lost after an epic tug-o-war.
The last footage from a quad copter drone recovered from 12 feet of water off south Solana Beach. It was found one year after the date of the last recording.

My dream of seeing Orcas (aka killer whales) recently came true. Watch as a friendly pod of 5 orcas interacts with me on my paddle board. This was filmed with my GoPro off the coast of Laguna Beach California last week. You'll see the whales come directly under my board twice. This was an amazing, magical afternoon.

As you watch this know these cows bring their calves to the pangas for the interaction. If they held any just resentment toward humans at all they could easily and skillfully smash the boat and all aboard. Awesome may be overused, but not in this case.

I filmed this recently at Del Mar beach from my quadcopter with my wife. We set out to capture the sunset from above, but couldn't help but also capture the surfers being amazing out there. My short film has been selected to be shown at America's finest film festival in San Diego in August. facebook.com/theaerialographer

It's not to likely to get a decent barrel from the inside of the tube in North County San Diego, but they happen. Here Drew Coalson defies the odds the a barrel and an air on the same wave at Ponto Jetties.

SD Expeditions offers 3-tank boat dives with these prehistoric-looking sharks that congregate in the shallow kelp at La Jolla Cove each spring. Since they are so slow moving and don't require any chum, they make for some great shark interactions!

Here's a video I captured back in February with my buddy's GoPro camera while surfing my longboard at Tourmaline. This was the exact time the east coast was getting blasted by the worst snowstorms.
This was shot one evening during a beautiful sunset over Del Mar, San Diego. My original aim was to film the sun setting over the ocean with my DJI Phantom 2 drone / quadcopter, but the surfers quickly caught my attention and added to the beauty. This was my first time flying over the ocean and I was captivated by how the surfers, and how the waves and spray were picking up the liquid gold of the sun reflecting in the ocean.
My 4-year-old Son Dane stood up for the first time on a soft top surfboard and it lit a fire with his other two buddies. They all stood up for the first time together. It made for a special day. I'm so glad I had my camera and got out in the water filming these Lil Style Masters for the first time and they all shared it together. Lil Bro's! It stoked me to see how much fun these little guys are having and it stoked the people watching. We now have a Friday mandatory surf session for the little guys. It also sparks other kids to join in on the stoke!
