Enough is Enough! All Women March. On Saturday June 29th, Women from all walks of life will march together to bring attention to the random violence that plagues our community. This call to action is being organized by Rashida Hameed, a life long resident of San Diego's Fourth District and community activist. The collapse of social order and gang activity has taken a toll on people's psyche. Hameed states "I have been to too many funerals and vigils and witnessed too many tears from mothers and family members who have been victims of senseless violence." "We are tired of the violence and we will not wait for men to lead us. Enough is enough! Women will take to the street to show the world that we intend to put an end to this insanity" The "All Women March" was created after attending yet another candlelight vigil for a murder victim back in March. Hameed witnessed the devastation and heartache his family experienced and decided it was her responsibility to do something. "Women are the ones left to pick up the pieces after these murders take place," said Hameed. "It's time for women to speak out in the community. We're not going wait for men to come up with the solution for us. We're going to be proactive and hopefully prevent future incidents by bringing attention to the senseless nature of it all." Hameed, President and Founder of Epiphany: Women in Focus, a nonprofit community organization, has urged All women, All races, All religions, All ages to come out and join what is promised to be a historic event. An estimated 2,000 Women and supporters will march from the Tubman-Chavez Center, 415 N. Euclid Ave at 11 am. Mayor Filner, is scheduled to cut the ribbon to start the march. After the March, there will be a recognition award ceremony, Free Food, activities for the kids, a Jumpin Thing & Face Painting. In addition there will be many vendor & sponsor booths with a variety of items and information. Something for everyone. Other sponsors/supporters expected to attend, include: • 100 STRONG • Kali Konnect ~ Street Soldier Media • Nabisco • Overcoming Gangs & Beyond • San Ysidro Health Center • U.S. Department of Peace • Jammin 'Z90 will be there with music, prizes and giveaways http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 20, 2013 4:32 p.m.
