David Ross fights for downtown bathrooms to serve homeless
mikeh, I too have noticed an increase in the "newly homeless" since the recession began last year. These people are clearly distinct from the mentally ill and drug addicted chronically homeless. I can only hope that the city provides adequate services that will help these folks get back on their feet quickly.— October 16, 2009 4:53 p.m.

I once had a friend who shared many of the same complaints about San Diego: the lack of trees, the changeless climate, the overpriced housing. I always used to tell him, "hey, at least you're not in Fresno..." This article isn't a screed against San Diego. San Diego is merely an innocent bystander here, and one of many, so readers shouldn't get too upset with the author.— September 24, 2009 1:38 p.m.
The drinking problem in Balboa Park after dark
