Michael Fanghella Seeking $150,000 Job
Don Et Alia, For some reason, the Reader's website doesn't have the story I wrote in 2002 about Pinnfund and Fanghella. It's on my website: http://www.thomaslarson.com/publications/san-dieg… "I Have More Money Than We Could Possibly Spend in Our Lifetimes." Tom Larson— April 19, 2010 12:38 p.m.
Chris Cantore and Hilary Chambers leave San Diego Clear Channel stations
Corrections. KPBS' John Decker writes to say that he is the executive producer of Editors' Roundtable and that Michael Marcotte was not fired as news director but retired in November 2007. Also, Jason Riggs notes that he was not fired from 91X but quit on the air. TLarson— January 10, 2009 8:19 a.m.
Chris Cantore and Hilary Chambers leave San Diego Clear Channel stations
Updates: Like Stacy Taylor, Mark Larson is no longer at 1700 AM. And Hilary, who was at FM 94.1, now has a show on FM 94.9. TL— January 3, 2009 7:46 a.m.
Chris Cantore and Hilary Chambers leave San Diego Clear Channel stations
In the opening section, I wrote that Chris Cantore was replaced at 91X by Adam Carolla. This was wrong. He was actually replaced by two DJs, Mat and Mahoney. The Web version of the story has been corrected. Tom Larson— December 31, 2008 11:43 a.m.
We'll See No More of Giants
John, Fine piece about a fine man. My best memory of Chuck is about four years ago when I went to Wahrenbrock's for a Reader story. Judith had asked me to write about Sacco and Vanzetti, the anniversary of their death coming up. What was San Diego's reaction during the trial some 80 years ago? I needed background, so I went to Chuck, who was gone for two minutes and re-emerged with three volumes, case history, biography, re-evaluation. I bought them and got the 15% off: "working writers' discount." Chuck treasured our fair and unfair city. How much he cared about you also and admired your writing, he once told me. How did the word bookish ever imply pedantic or dull? Chuck was just the opposite. Books and authors excited him, and his place linking them to a community of readers is his legacy. San Diego women who kill the ones they love
FYI, the article is NOT about men killing women but women killing men. Realnews has an agenda, particularly against cops. I trust the rest of you actually see that the title "Intimate Murder" refers to women killers. Thanks. TL— July 3, 2008 3:39 p.m.
