Whole horse mackerel, you say?
Glad you liked it Ian. I hope it's successful and stays around.— March 6, 2013 5:12 p.m.
Saying Farewell to Naomi Wise
I will really miss her. I have read and respected her reviews since she arrived in town. Although I didn't know her she seemed like a friend. She will always be remembered.— December 18, 2011 10:04 p.m.
Burlap
Tried this on the weekend, absolutely terrific! Small, medium and large plates. Hit Picks:Crab cake with no filler, Octopus, Duck wings, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, Tuna on Crispy rice. the interior is great as well. We will be back.— October 3, 2011 9:58 p.m.
Taste of the Himalayas
This is a great find. Service and friendliness are wonderful. But the food is even better. I love great Indian food but this came to my attention due to the Nepalese offerings. We asked for recommendations for items that were more Nepalese. We tried the Momo and asked them to give us a sampling of the vegetable, chicken and lamb. All different and highly recommended. We then had a shrimp dish that was moderately spicy and tangy. Lastly we tried a rack of lamb which had been marinated in tandoori spices and arrived on a sizzling plate atop a bed of onions, peppers and zucchini.other reviewers talk about the spiciness being more intense in this restaurant. My experience was the opposite, perhaps because we ordered the Napalese dishes. Including garlic, basil naan and a large bottle of Himalayan beer the bill was only $44 plus tip. Just a great experience.— August 28, 2011 9:51 p.m.
Yakitori Yakyudori deceased?
Naomi, I didn't have the pleasure to try this one but since it's gone, give Yu Me Ya -Sake House a try. It's small but great fun and house made noodles, best tempura I've had in years. I'll go with you anytime! The Debs from Cygnet know how to reach me.— August 24, 2011 10:30 p.m.
Developers Kill Local Kitchens
What a shame! More Panera I presume. Too bad.— August 24, 2011 10:19 p.m.
Feeling Puckish
I've now visited this restaurant twice. The food is terrific subtle, always changing. Service has been fine. Asian inspired Duck, Seafood terrific. Alas, the Butterfish is no longer on the menu due to cost. Only open on nights that the Playhouse is. Mid-Century Modern furnishings, beautiful interior.— August 11, 2011 9:55 p.m.
To the Cloud!
My first experience this evening was terrific, food , service and wine were great. Wine pairings were excellent. I don't think that I've ever found better value. We sat inside as opposed to the enclosed patio and found it comfortable, yes, the chairs were wood, but I found them better than many cushioned chairs in other restaurants. The noise level in the full restaurant was low this evening, it was comfortable to talk among our table of four. Overall one of the better experiences in San Diego. Olive oil poached Keta salmon with Pinot wine flight, WOW!— August 11, 2011 9:35 p.m.
Very Good Flavor Del Mar
Agreed! Tried this during restaurant week and had a very good meal. The service was a little spotty with the staff trying to stick us in an uncomfortable corner and saying that they were un able to correct it even though we had reservations. The food made our party want to return, however the service would probably cause us to try something else next time!— April 27, 2011 10:16 p.m.
Food Girl's Mexican Soul
I'll agree with "breezy"! I tried this for restaurant week under pressure from my girlfriend. I think that Naomi was far too kind in her review. I would advise that you steer clear of this restaurant. The food lacked flavor ( the shrimp were already dead they didn't have to kill them again). The poorest example of Mexican inspired that cuisine I have ever experienced. This is the first time I have ever had to send a cocktail back because it was undrinkable!!— January 18, 2011 11:04 p.m.
