DeMaio's men's room masturbation went unreported (updated 8/26)
There you go with the assuming again! Pesky habit. The column ended after 14 years and 600+ columns because I decided I would not work for Manchester and Lynch, so I quit. I wasn't the only one who resigned. Dorian Hargrove wrote a story about my decision last year.— August 23, 2013 8:31 p.m.

Also: A few weeks ago or so, somebody made a comment on this site and attributed an excerpt from the aforementioned blog to me. In fact, the co-writer of the blog wrote the excerpt, and her authorship was clearly noted.— August 23, 2013 7:57 p.m.

Aww, thanks Sage for your incorrect assumption about my work status! I've worked full time as an independent writer for 14 years. I was a full-time reporter for the NCT from 1995-1999, and a columnist thereafter until last year when the U-T bought the paper and I resigned as a result. (I'd crossed paths with CEO John Lynch earlier.) And yes, in response to a mention somewhere in this thread: I did write, briefly, for a blog on Wired.com (the website of the magazine) about the intersection of sexuality and technology.— August 23, 2013 7:13 p.m.

Why didn't you pursue this story from your perch in Colorado, Don? Did you "hush" it up yourself?— August 23, 2013 12:23 a.m.

How did you hear that about the allegedly fired Reader ad guys, Monaghan/Frances? Do you have a close personal connection at the Reader? Maybe one who's closer to us than Don Bauder in Colorado or wherever?— August 22, 2013 5:37 p.m.

David, you are just a "stringer." You are not an anonymous online commenter. That's higher. Remember your place!— August 22, 2013 5:35 p.m.

Relevant: "Three former sales representatives for the San Diego Reader filed a lawsuit against the alt-weekly in October, alleging gender discrimination, sexual harassment and wrongful termination.... 'Plaintiffs' efforts to succeed within the company were frustrated by a 'boys club' that created a corporate culture in which the overriding environment was such that men were seen as superior and were given unfair advantages such as preferred leads and 'head starts' on new sales promotions,' the suit claims." http://www.sdcitybeat.com/sandiego/blog-590-forme…— August 22, 2013 11:18 a.m.
Some facts about 18th accuser, Dianne York
Why, exactly, does she lack credibility? Because she's had financial problems? That would be relevant if she was seeking monetary damages, but that's not the case.— August 21, 2013 3:10 p.m.

You know who else has been bankrupt? You will find this source unimpeachable. "But it turns out that Burdick has experienced her own navigation problems, as evidenced by a December 2002 Chapter 7 filing in federal bankruptcy court here that listed total debts of $487,022.65 against total assets of just $78,327.99, and $72,064 in unpaid personal income taxes owed the State of California and the federal government."
