Baja California economy suffers for lack of northern visitors
I am normally a big fan of the unbiased articles in the Reader. This one, however unbiased, is a joke. The quote from Armando Rogelio Lara Valle is complete BS. "Long waits at the border have discouraged Americans from visiting Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, and other cities in Baja California". Americans do not go to Mexico because the crime rate is through the roof and the prices of services and goods has gone up to the point it is not worth traveling to Mexico. I can't tell if Armando Rogelio Lara Valle is lying to himself or trying to mislead the public.— March 22, 2013 7:18 a.m.
Can’t Park It in Grantville
I thought this program was dead. I should have know that the City of San Diego was not done abusing eminent domain. As a resident of Allied Gardens, I can't wait for all of the traffic on Mission Gorge Rd that is already at capacity. The roads are too small and the grocery stores are too small. What about the small businesses in that area who can't afford to move. All in the name of property tax revenue. I wonder which company that Madaffer is going to work for will be doing the development?— March 14, 2012 12:18 p.m.
City Slow to Remove Racial Slur on Sign in North Park
From my experience, graffiti removal by the city takes anywhere from 8 weeks to never.— June 13, 2011 8:16 a.m.
Carpenters Union Members Picket at Scripps La Jolla
Another example of a union trying to railroad a business and mislead the public.— March 30, 2011 8:33 a.m.
Rosarito Clubs Go Out of Business
It was just a matter of time. I saw this coming years ago. If you treat your tourists badly they will eventually stop coming. Even if it is a few "bad seeds" ripping of tourists it is the responsibility of the government to deal with the issue. The problem is that the corruption in Mexico is at every level and will just continue to spiral out of control until nobody travels to Mexico. My friends and I used to go to Rosorito, San Filipie and Ensenada all the time but not only did it become sketchy, but with the greed came higher prices, making it economically undesirable as well. Mexico, you screwed yourselves. Haven't you ever heard the term, "Don't lick a gift horse in the mouth"?— March 21, 2011 9:07 a.m.
Are Naming Rights to San Diego's Parks, Libraries, Fire Stations on the Auction Block?
If I had a lot of money I would bid to name a park after myself. I think it is a great idea.— February 23, 2011 1:50 p.m.
Attention, San Diego Shoppers
The ordinance was clearly lobbied by the grocers union.— January 26, 2011 8:42 a.m.
Baja Real Estate Deal Sours for U.S. Investors
Mexico is shady. If you invest in Mexico you are an Idiot.— January 21, 2011 7:36 a.m.
Three Oceanside Assailants Sentenced in Beating of Elderly Woman
What has happened to our justice system? These three beat an old lady because she asked them to stop doing something THEY should not have been doing in the first place. Work furlong? What a furling joke! Felonies are punishable by a slap on the hand? Come on America, let's start holding accountable for their actions!— December 21, 2010 2:43 p.m.
New San Diego City Ordinance to Lockout Big-Box Stores
I smell the stench of union.— October 8, 2010 9:56 a.m.
