Poway Lake: soothing, calm, beautiful! Poway lake is a great place to go for an invigorating hike or to enjoy a picnic under the shady sycamore and pine trees on its grassy hillsides. There are plenty of tables and barbecues and there is even a covered deep pit barbecue that is available by appointment. It's great for large groups and parties. If you don't want to cook, they have a nice little grill restaurant overlooking the lake that serves burgers, fries and shakes. You can't swim in Lake Poway, as it is a drinking water reservoir, but you can fish from the dock or take a motorboat or paddle boat out onto the water. I think it's the prettiest lake in San Diego County.
