The Buddhists Are Coming!
FYI: The Vietnamese lady, Master Ching Hai, is not a Buddhist teacher, exactly. She's more Asian Fusion. Her teacher was a guru named Sant Thakar Singh who left Sikhism to develop a new spiritual tradition. What Ching Hai teaches is a kind of eclectic blend of Asian and western religion that includes belief in an omniscient creator god as well as a soul, both of which are denied in Buddhism. The Taiwanese lady, Master Cheng Yen, is an ordained Buddhist nun who founded the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, which is a highly respected relief organization operating in many countries, including the U.S. I don't know where you got "EcoVerse"; maybe that's the name of a new program, but it's not the name of the organization.— August 4, 2012 5:15 a.m.
